These just arrived today and they are everything I’ve been looking for. I have a fairly large rear end and hips, and it is almost impossible to find hiking shorts that fit a woman with a butt! These do, and they’re so incredibly comfortable. I wear a size 10 in most fitted jeans, but I do find that pants with no stretch almost never fit me, for reference. The size 10 in these is perfect-not too clingy, a good length, and not baggy, but I could honestly have a much larger waistline and fit these just fine because of the stretch. The waistband is ingenious-mostly stretchy, comfy elastic but supported with a webbing belt. The belt has some stretch, so it’s comfortable when sitting (even after a big meal), but it helps a lot to keep the shorts up when you’ve got stuff in the pocket. Speaking of pockets, basically the entire front panel on each side is a GIGANTIC POCKET!!! I work in a kayak warehouse and so I have to carry radio, box cutter, etc, and I was really skeptical about these because there are no back pockets. But that is all made up for in the front. Seriously I could fit an entire book in the pockets, easy. And the smooth back is actually really flattering on the butt. I’ve only worn them to walk the dog yet, so I can’t say much about durability, but they seem well made, and the fabric feels sturdy, yet very breathable. I think they’ll be great for kayaking and for work, which is basically everything I’ve been looking for. Thank you North Face!!!

I admit that I am still on the fence about shorts in general…they always seem to ride up as I hike, which these did, but I liked a lot of things about them.
The regular inseam length was great and the fit over by backside is flattering. I wish the rise was slightly higher, so I could anchor them better to my waist line – but that may be my big hip to smaller waist ratio problem. While the included belt webbing is nice, it can only be tightened so much before the gathered fabric looks and feel off. Approximately 1-2″
Because the fabric has stretch, they do run slightly big.
These are super light weight and water resistant. Seem great for kayaking, canoeing, beach day, or light hiking. Orange color is perfect!

I’m 5’8″, 145 pounds, and I ordered a size 6 long. They fit great! I would say order true to size, but if you’re between sizes order the smaller size. I would also definitely order them in long, even if you’re not that tall. The long ones are still pretty short, while still covering my rear when I sit down. I love these shorts and I’m ordering them in another color!

The short is comfortable and functional. The materials is very soft. There are two big front pockets and a back pocket near waist for a big cell phone. It is my favorite hiking gear. I am 5’7 135lbs. I bought size 8. I usually wear 6. It is a little loose. I wonder if it is better if I buy size 6.

Love these shorts!! Will probably get another pair. I wear a size 6 and got a size 6. Not big, just a little loose, which I prefer for hiking. Took them backpacking and they where great! Would like at least one front pocket that had a zipper. Can’t access the back zipper with a backpack on. The style is nice, very complementary to your shape.

I’m really glad I got the longer length. These fit true to size, I’m usually a 10 and bought a 10 in these and they fit great – a little roomy but the belt fixes that problem. Quick drying and I love the classic design! I wear these biking in the heat and they kept me cool.

Bought these in 10 Long Vintage White. Love the 5.5″ inseam on my 5′ 5″ body. Deep pockets, fairly wrinkle free, SPF of 50 – great! I would buy it in every color but apparently the LONG sizes sell fast or they don’t make enough – this North Face site has no other 10 L available in these shorts in any color but the vintage white.

I am 5’4 125 lbs and size 2 is about right. A side 0 may even me if they stretch out but I’m happy with these. Originally purchased the 4 based on size chart hip measurement but they were way too big. The size 2 actually fits with leggings underneath and room to spare.
