I’m 5’2 120lbs and ordered the small, which is my normal size in most brands including TNF. I can get away with layering this on top of a sweatshirt, but would recommend sizing up if you plan to do so. This vest is very warm and functional – I have already worn it out a handful of times in 30-40 degree weather. One thing I don’t like about this vest is that it rides up when I walk, so I constantly feel the need to adjust it. Other than that the vest is perfect, with the inner lining being extremely warm. This is absolutely a perfect vest for hiking and am glad I’ve added it to my wardrobe.

It is styled to be fitted and flattering and will be if you have larger breasts. I am 130# 5’4″ athletic and M fit perfect except my small A/B cup bust couldn’t fill the area leaving an awkward sag up top. The inside fuzzy part was wonderful. I wish more jackets had that lining on the inside of the necks. I liked that it went down a bit in the back so if you are bending over you don’t have to worry about people seeing your underpants.

I was drawn to the North Face quality and wanted something I could wash and wear without worries. I am a size 8 but the medium was tight around the bust and rode up in back. I tried the large but it was way too big and roomy around the waist. If only it had a draw string or stretchy gathering around the waist area to accommodate curvy figures. Also, the arm holes seem small for a vest. I love the style of this vest and was sad to send it back.

The fit on this vest was somewhat odd and did not wear well on me at all. For reference, I am 5’6″ tall and weigh 135 lbs, and while the size Small did fit, it seemed to bunch up a bit in the back making for an odd look overall. Color and fabric are great, though. Maybe on a taller person this would look better? Great idea, but fit was off. Sadly had to return.

I purchased this vest after admiring a similar North Face vest that a friend was sporting. After some research I gleaned that this style exactly fit the bill for an impending trip to a coldish clime. It’s lightweight, reversible (luxuriously soft and fleecy on the reverse), and features zippered pockets -a must for travel. The color (olive green in this case) is a little less vibrant than conveyed online, but earthy and compatible with many other garment hues. The fit is a bit off – the vest bunches up a bit at the shoulders – but this I attribute to my rather bottom-heavy figure, and I will need periodically to pull down the vest at the hips. I highly recommend this vest (which I wore right out of the package!).
