I got this backpack as a gift as I’m going into nursing school, I absolutely love it so far!! The padded pocket is perfect for holding my laptop safely. I got rid of my purse and just use this bag for everything now. Very happy with my purchase

I love this backpack. I have been using north face backpacks for 10 years now. This one is my favorite. It has a slim design but fits everything I need. The multiple zipper compartments allow for me to organize everything I need to take with me.

I purchased this backpack for my granddaughter who is going off to college this year. On her “wish list” was a couple different backpacks but when I found this particular one it seemed to really fit her total needs . . . like the compartment for her laptop which is very well padded and protected. The many other smaller sections on the backpack are really great for her other supplies to haul around campus and have everything organized so it’s easy for her to find at a moments need. I didn’t mind paying the slightly higher price for this one because I know she will get a lot of use out of it and the quality is wonderful! Almost makes me want to go off to college myself.
The gray & baby blue colors are beautiful (if you can call a backpack beautiful), gray is one of my granddaughters favorite colors so that makes it even more special to give her. Thanks North Face!

This bag is significantly smaller than prior years. It claims 31L, but not nearly that size. The tightness between the departments is horrible for the main compartment to say the least and can not put a lot in it. Very disappointed in this product and wish I could return.

After adding all of my college supplies to the backpack, I tried it on and after less than 3 minutes, I felt pain on my shoulders and neck. Once I took it off my neck and shoulders still felt sore. I bought some cushiony straps ($21) to make the backpack more comfortable, and it only helped a bit. I thought to myself, is a backpack that cost me a total of $162 with the modifications really worth it just for it not to cover my needs as a college commuter? And no. It isn’t. Returning.

i love this backpack! it fits all i need and it has a lot of pockets. the side pockets fit my water bottle perfectly too. i guess we’ll see how it holde up during the school yr!

Loving my new surge. I bought one and used it on a daily basis to carry my computer to/from the office. After 15 years, some internal linen started to wear (You read it right-15 years!). I decided to retire my old companion, and purchased a new one. So far, so good. There are a lot of inside pockets improvements, but the most noticeble one is the wait. The new model is definitely super light. I love it!

I use this backpack for work and carrying my very large and heavy laptop. I think the back support is great and the protection for the laptop is strong. However, it’s a very tight/skinny bag. So my laptop just barely fits and there isn’t much room for bulkier things (like a lunch or jacket, etc.), unless you stuff it in there.

I purchased my Surge backpack becuase I had bought one for my son during the spring. I really liked his, so bought one for myself for travel and graduate school. My son is 6’4″ and built like a football player so it fits him well. I’m 5’3″ and mine fits me well too, even though it’s big. It’s a physically big backpack so be prepared for that. The back is very firm and does not bend but that seems to be for the wearer’s back support. I’m able to easily fit my MacBook Air comfortably in the computer sleeve, and could probably comfortably fit a Pro. There’s also a sleeve for an iPad. The bottom expands to make the bag wider. A cool feature is the front side pockets. They seem as though they would only hold a small amount, but they’re deceiving since they hold incredible amounts and don’t bulge out. Overall, it’s a good backpack. I ordered it in the wild ginger heather color since I wanted something different. It’s a pretty color. I’ve already been asked 2x where I purchased this color from and I let them know it’s from the website. Also, I purchased the Never Stop Crossbody bag in wild ginger to match. That way, when I’m wearing the backpack, and the crossbody at the same time, I don’t have to worry about colors clashing. Overall, a good backpack and glad that I purchased.
